I have a life experience that matches the proverb "Knowledge is like a garden: if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested." I had that experience about a few weeks ago.
I have always hated the subject science ever since elementary. It was a tough subject for me so I gave up. It never affected me in any ways because that subject wasn't a requirement for me to go to college in Korea. However, as I came to the states to study kinesiology, biology was a class I needed for my major. Since I didn't even know the basics of biology, I couldn't understand anything even when I tried studying with my textbook. In the end, I had to ask my brother for help, so he started teaching me biology through phone calls. Turns out, I had to learn from the very beginning which was middle school level science.
That experience taught me a lesson. Knowledge isn't something to can gain overnight. You have to start from the bottom and cultivate it like a garden. Otherwise, it can't be harvested meaning that you can't earn knowledge.
I hated science in the past either. But,some day i found interest in science, because it always teaches me to think more accuate.

ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you ask someone can help you. That is the easiest way to improve your subject .
ReplyDeleteVery good example of the proverb Yoonna. I hope you are enjoying biology now. It is very important for your career. I never liked math or science much when I was a student. Now I am becoming very interested in plants and biology. It's fascinating.
